. God be with you. I taught my brother how to drive a stick on my car and I almost killed him; aside from stalling it constantly, when he was getting out of the car with it still in first and the engine on. He simply took his foot of the clutch without shutting the engine or shifting to neutral or having his other foot on the brake, or with the E-brake up. My car lurched forward like 20 inches and I wanted to murder him...and he's blood. lol. Good luck dude. Sean

The problem here is that if you teach her she will want to drive it and if she drives it, well.........it's just not a good thing.

My wife has driven a stick many times, even owned several cars that were stick, but she will not drive my car. I have no idea why. I think she is more into the bigger more “lazy” cars than she once was. I think she would love a 5 or 7 with auto. I think she just likes bigger, more “luxurious type” of cars if you know what I’m taking about.

When I had my Jetta 2.0 5-speed, I used to let people try learning stick shift on it. It was SUCH an easy car to drive that almost everyone could start driving on their first try!
But teaching people stick shift is so nerve-racking for me because it's such a huge risk when a total stick newbie has to deal with traffic and shit. They could easily stall out and cause a lot of problems.

That's why you find an open field or very large empty parking lot to teach them.
I taught two of my friends and a foreign exchange student to drive a stick in a 1963 dodge pickup out in the middle of one of our hay fields. I never had one worry in the world, but had a ton of laughs when they would rock the pickup in first gear, stall the engine, or try shifting without the clutch (only one of my friends tried this one).

Funny....very funny.....Most Germans drive sticks so MY wife has a problem with the automatic, smash gas...get scared....smash brakes and so on and so on. I know she is going to wreck my bimmer but when I let her drive I end up in uncontrolable fits of laughter...then I don't get any for a week for being such an insensitive prick. This is married life.
